The most prestigious awards the AIA Los Angeles bestows are its annual Design Awards. This year, AIALA is pleased to announce that building performance will be a critical, and required, component of the Design Awards and have aligned this year’s program with the energy measure from the National AIA 2030 commitment for design excellence in support of environmental sustainability. AIALA recognizes that as ecological stewardship is an integral part of the design process and our built environment, design awards will therefore recognize projects that successfully integrate environmental considerations along with a building’s design agenda.

Eligibility

The AIALA Design Awards showcase the best of built and unbuilt work located in Los Angeles or by
Los Angeles-based architects located elsewhere. Entrants must be members of any chapter of the
American Institute of Architects.

Design Awards:
Built work, completed after January 1, 2018.

Next LA:
Unbuilt work originating no earlier than
January 1, 2018. Project must be less than
75% through completed construction at the time
of judging in September 2021.
