2021 Emerging Professionals Program
Dunn Edwards invites students to submit to the 2021 Emerging Professionals Program.
Your client is redesigning a space and loves the colour Wild Blue Yonder (DE5855). It is a light, airy and soothing pale blue — encouraging us to slow down, take a deep breath, and approach the future with restored hope and confidence. The hypothetical budget is undefined and the client wants to see your creative design.
- Commercial: A new build 15,000 square foot Dunn-Edwards Paints store in San Francisco, California. At least 1/3 of the total area is reserved for warehousing/storage. Mark off this area, however you do not need to create floor plan within it. Dedicate space for a 10-foot L-shaped register counter near the main entrance, and a 200 square foot area for in-store color consultations. The in-store color consultation area includes Perfect Palette® with color chips, a small table with 4 chairs for consultations and a desk with a computer chair. The specific dimensions of these are to your liking but must fit within the 200 square foot area.
- Residential: A mid-century home (4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms) for a family of 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Excluding the two-car garage, 2,000 square feet maximum. The open concept is no longer meeting the needs of the family and 200 square feet (either as one space or two) is required for a private office and homework area. Additionally, and not part of the re-purposed 200 square foot area, the family desires a craft and play corner for their youngest child that is no larger than 15 square feet within one of the common spaces of the home.
Submission materials for both categories in both tiers shall include a mood board expressing an original design idea of the Entrant, and also a written description of the idea. Entrants submitting in the advanced tier of either category shall also include a rendering giving more concrete expression to the idea.
Entrants must be 18 years of age or older by the end of the Competition’s Entry Period. Entrants are required to be enrolled as full-time or part-time students during the 2021 calendar year. The Competition is only open to legal residents of the United States, including residents of the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. All international students legally residing in the U.S. on a valid student visa are eligible to enter.
